How he learned to jam: Aaron’s musical journey began in the home. His mom was an ethnomusicologist who always stressed the importance of music education. As a child, Aaron studied piano and clarinet and sang in various children’s choirs. Starting in middle school, he focused his attention on guitar and voice and continued through college. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre with a Voice Minor from Roosevelt University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Clinical Psychology through the Drama Therapy Expressive Arts Modality at Lesley University.

Sweetest jams: For his high school senior project, Aaron arranged Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody for an 8 part men’s barbershop ensemble and brought in a rock band to perform a true-to-the-recording live version of the song! He has also worked as a bandleader, music director and pit orchestra member for a number of musical theatre productions around the country and helped run a music/theatre camp for elementary school aged children.

How Aaron jams with you: An experienced educator, Aaron enjoys digging into the meanings of songs and playing with the ways in which music supports the emotional journey of a piece. While he values classic techniques, he never wants to lose sight of the wholistic and joyful experience that is engaging with music. He prioritizes discovering together what drives each of his student’s unique relationship with music and sets educational goals based around that passion.
