History of the jam: Colleen’s musical journey began with piano lessons at age 3, which she continued all the way through college. At age 8, she took up percussion and went on to play bass drum in her high school’s marching band. In jazz band, she was the pianist. Her love for music and composition eventually lead her to her field of study in video game and film scoring! These days, Colleen is pursuing a Master of Music Therapy from Lesley University.
How Colleen jams with you: Colleen’s love for music and teaching is evident the moment she steps into the room. She is warm, kind, knowledgable and approachable. In practice, she thrives on adapting her teaching materials, approach and repertoire to suit the needs of each student. She believes that there is no “one size fits all” approach to music education and that the most important part of any musical journey is to instill a love and excitement for the process. If her students are having fun while learning, she calls that a success! If not, it’s her job to adapt the material to suit them and not the other way around. When not teaching, Colleen enjoys composing for video games and short films, crafting and taking her dog to the beach.
