Luke Frees

Jams on: Piano, Guitar, Voice, Drums, Ukulele

Location: Greater Boston

What’s his jam? Rock, Classical, Jazz

Ed-jam-ucation: Luke’s musical journey began with piano lessons at age 4. Shortly thereafter, he added voice and guitar and continued with all three through college. In 2019 he graduated from Berklee College of Music with a major in Songwriting and double minors in Recording/Production and Creative Writing.

Jamography: Currently, Luke is in a Boston-based band called The Cotones, in which he is the singer, rhythm guitarist and (occasional) pianist. Having already released a handful of singles, they are preparing for the release of their debut album on March of 2020.

Jammin’ with Luke: Luke believes that students learn best when they’re interested. He routinely integrates the music they like into his lesson plans and uses it as an opportunity to teach the fundamental techniques and pedagogy of their instrument. After taking lessons on dozens of instruments throughout the years, Luke believes that when a student learns through the lens of music they enjoy, they are more likely to be engaged, interested and motivated to learn!

Testimonials:

“Luke has been great for our daughter’s uke lessons and our son’s new foray into drumming. He’s been very accommodating with providing pages from a lesson book that took a while to arrive to us from Amazon, and has done a lovely job encouraging them virtually. We really appreciate having these lessons each week!” – BECCA
